A Campus Assistant will be a member of the Estate Services team charged with supporting those living and studying on campus. The primary focus of the role will be to develop community and run events and experiences for those living on campus.

Campus Assistants will also fulfil operational duties such as delivering post, fire checks and assisting with events around residences and the rest of the campus

All Campus Assistants appointed in the first wave of appointments will be offered a bedroom in a shared bathroom facility on campus but they will not be required to accept it.

However, due to the evening and weekend nature of many of the shifts CAs must ensure they can efficiently travel to and from their place of work.

It will be possible for CAs with accessibility requirements to request an accessible room.

Successful CAs can request other types of on campus bedrooms (eg Ensuite) during the appointment process. It should be noted that rent will be payable in line with the relevant price bracket of that room and that these requests will be subject to availability.

No, Campus Assistants will not be required to be on-call overnight or at weekends.

Campus Assistant work will be quite flexible with some hours linked to a regular rota and other hours offered on an ad hoc basis. Once the roster has been published you will be required to swap a shift that no longer suits you. You do not have to accept any ad hoc shift that becomes available.

CAs will be paid hourly. It has been estimated that a CA who works an average of 12 hours per week during the 33 weeks of the main rota and an additional 100 (approx) hours of extra work during high demand periods such as arrivals and UCD Open Day etc will earn €6-7,000 over the course of the year.

No, all Campus Assistants will be paid by the hour for the work they do.

€14.00 per hour is the current rate of pay. Pay rates are subject to periodic review.

Only full-time students who will be studying for the duration of 2025/26 can apply to become Campus Assistants at present. This may be reviewed in future years.

Campus Assistants will be offered a room in a shared bathroom facility. The room will be assigned randomly and they will not necessarily live with other Campus Assistants, but some CAs may live together. It is not a requirement for Campus Assistants to live on campus.

Campus Assistants' default place of work will be the UCD Village or Blackrock Services desk.
