Endowment Fund
Every year UCD awards a range of scholarships to students. Some are based on academic achievement, others acknowledge sporting and artistic talent or are specifically used to encourage students who may not otherwise attend university.
In addition to these scholarships, there are other undergraduate awards, medals and prizes, which are awarded, in later years on the basis of outstanding performance and/or results in the previous year's examinations
UCD have a Trust Fund that over time has built the foundation for a sustainable, perpetual funding base for student and academic support. Endowed gifts are such that the capital contribution is never spent but invested with a portion of annual earned income distributed as a scholarship or bursary.
In the past, several donors have created named endowed scholarships in various academic disciplines, which generate scholarships and bursaries for future generations of students.
- The Denis O’Connor KPMG Doctoral Scholarship in Accounting
- The James and Maria Purcell Scholarship for New ERA students
- The Pat McAdam Memorial Award in Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering
- The Professor John P O’Connor Memorial Award in Equine Clinical Studies.
- The Roger McHugh Memorial Award in Anglo Irish Literature
