One of the most popular field games for men and women with a rich tradition at Belfield, Gaelic football continues to thrive by attracting players of all levels. In the men’s club, the Sigerson Cup is the highlight of the intervarsity year and produces magnificent football contests in the winter months. The senior team also competes in the Higher Education League, which is now tied into Sigerson qualification adding to the League’s importance. UCD also competes in the Dublin Senior Football Championship, which is the gateway for entry into the AIB All Ireland Club Championship. UCD won this in 1974, 1975 and more recently in 2002 and 2006. One of the club’s ambitions is to again win this coveted trophy.
