Professor Roland Erne giving a talk on his book 'Politicising Commodification'

Geary Fellow, Professor Roland Erne et al.‘s new book (opens in a new window)Politicising Commodification has been reviewed open access in the (opens in a new window)British Journal of Industrial Relations (ABS 4) by Paul Marginson, Emeritus Professor of Industrial Relations at Warwick Business School, UK. Roland was also interviewed about the book for the New Books Network by Lavinia Stan, Professor of Political Science at Francis Xavier University, Canada.

When interview by Lavinia Stan, Professor Erne talks about what inspired this book, how the team worked together, and which conclusions they arrived at.

“It is indeed a collective work, and it's not an edited book. […] it's the result of six years of work, and that was made possible by this European Research Council grant, which allowed us to study this radical shift in EU economic governance that we have seen after the financial crisis in Europe.” Professor Erne explained.

The full interview is available on the (opens in a new window)NBN website and on (opens in a new window)Spotify.

'Politicising Commodification provides a path-breaking, comprehensive and rigorous analysis of the nature and impact of the European Union's New Economic Governance (NEG) policy regime on employment relations (ER) and public service provision from its ad hoc inception in 2009, under the financial crisis, through to the Covid emergency and its immediate aftermath.' Paul Marginson
