About EqualHouse
The Housing Inequality to Sustainable, Inclusive and Affordable Housing Solutions - (Acronym: EqualHouse) was approved for funding under the Horizon Europe RIA call. The project is pioneering research project funded by the EU that is set to revolutionise our understanding and approach to housing inequality. Prof. Michelle Norris, Director of the Geary Institute for Public Policy, is the PI for the project, and Dr Muireann Ní Rahallaigh, School of Social Policy, Social Work and Social Justice, is also a work package lead. This is a twelve-partner project with a total budget of €3.4 million, of which the UCD share is €650,000. The project commenced in January 2024. Ms. Emma Barron of Geary Institute for Public Policy manages the project.
Seasoned academics from a variety of European countries and disciplinary backgrounds, policymakers, affordable housing and homeless service providers are analysing the myriad aspects of housing inequality that have previously been studied in isolation. By doing so, we will provide comprehensive insights and robust guidance to policymakers at all levels across Europe.
The consortium kick-off meeting, held in Athens, Greece, on 7 April 2024, provided fruitful collaboration and plans for the future of the 48-month project.

EqualHouse
This work is a continuation of the (opens in a new window)#Housing2030 initiative, where more than 100 social and affordable housing providers, researchers, cities, urbanists, and policymakers put together tried and tested policies and projects that have delivered better housing outcomes.
