SOHAM
Sociology of Humans and Machines (SOHAM) Lab, led by (opens in a new window)Assoc Prof Taha Yasseri, is focused on developing the sociology of the hybrid environments that our societies are embedded in today. Whilst centuries of sociological studies have only been partially successful to unfold the complex patterns underlying our societal behaviour, the emergence of digital technologies, more specifically manifested as semi-intelligent and intelligent machines, have posed new challenges to sociologists. In SOHAM, using behavioural experimentation, agent-based modelling, machine learning and advanced statistics, we aim at revealing complex mechanisms involved in forming and reshaping our future societies. SOHAM will generate first-hand evidence to advance our knowledge of human-machine systems and will inform the very much-needed emerging policies that will govern such systems.
