Our programmes equip those who seek to understand and transform gendered relations and to advance gender equality and social and economic justice from local to global levels, with the skills and critical thinking necessary to do so.
Our Masters in Gender Studies has developed over thirty years to become the most established gender studies programme in Ireland. Our MA in Gender Studies delivers rigorous, interdisciplinary, critical, dynamic learning in feminisms, sexualities, masculinities, gender debates, politics and activisms.
Our global and intersectional feminist perspectives offer a complex understanding of how oppression and discrimination operate across society, politics and the economy.
We celebrate the intersection between knowledge and activism and expose students to a breadth and depth of scholarship in relation to multiple oppressions, discriminations, politics and policies including gender, race and ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, class and age, among others. This programme leads to a well- recognised MA in Gender Studies qualification from one of the top 1% universities in the world.
Our Graduate Diploma offers an interdisciplinary programme aimed at developing critical thinking and greater understanding of feminisms, sexualities and masculinities, and a pathway for many who wish to access our MA programme.
This course brings a gender lens to an analysis of the way in which power is structured and hierarchies of social class, sexuality, ethnicity, dis/ability and age are established. Our global and intersectional feminist perspectives bring a new understanding to how discrimination, inequalities and systems of oppression operate. Many of our Graduate Diploma students build their knowledge through a specific inter-linking of both scholarship and activism.

Applicants are required to have a minimum of a 2.2 Honours or international equivalent in a honours level Bachelors degree (NFQ Level 8). Applicants whose first language is not English also require proof of English language proficiency. Applicants should also submit the contact details for two referees, at least one of whom should know you in an academic capacity, as well as a personal statement (circa 500 words) explaining why you are interested in studying this course.

Graduates pursue diverse fields of further academic study as well as professional careers with international, national and local community organisations, such as in NGOs, advocacy organisations, public-sector agencies, education and media organisations.
