Studying at UCD
Academic entry requirements
UCD welcomes applications from academically qualified students all over the world. Please see the relevant country page for specific academic entry requirements for applicants with qualifications from that country.
English Language requirements
Teaching in UCD is through the medium of English; therefore students must demonstrate a high level of competence in the English language to be admitted. UCD's minimum English language requirements are available here but the specific English language requirement for the programme must be achieved.
The UCD Applied Language Centre provides English Presessional Programmes for students preparing to study at UCD as well as offering English support for students already studying at UCD. Pre-Masters Programmes are also available to students who meet the academic entry requirements but may need an extended period of English language preparation.
For undergraduate students, the UCD International Study Centre offers an International Foundation Year where students can further develop the English language and academic skills you need to succeed in an undergraduate degree at UCD.
How to apply, application deadlines and important dates
For undergraduate and graduate programmes, application is through the UCD Online Application System. For the UCD International Foundation Programme please foundation applicants should apply by completing the Foundation Pathways online application form. The UCD Online Application System opens October 1st each year. The deadline for applying to undergraduate programmes is July 15th each year.
Sponsorship letters
Students are required to submit official confirmation of sponsorship by a recognised sponsor prior to, or on registration. Failure to do so can result in a student being liable for tuition fees.
You may wish to send confirmation of your sponsored students to the university directly and in advance of registration, so that our records can be updated accordingly and to avoid students becoming liable for fees.
Please email sponsorship letters to sponsors@ucd.ie.
Finance
Invoicing
In order for you to be invoiced directly for your students' tuition fees, please provide a Financial Sponsorship Guarantee Letter for each of them. These letters and any finance enquiries should be sent directly to our Fees Office.
Fee Statements
If you need your students to provide fee statements, before issuing confirmation of scholarship you should instruct your students that they can access this online. The instructions for students to access their fee statements are:
- Login to your SISWeb account.
- Click on the “Registration, Fees & Assessment” tab.
- Then click “Programme Fees & Payments”.
- On this page there is a “Generate Statement” button. Click this to generate a pdf fee receipt for the current year. If you need previous years fee receipts select the ‘View Your Account History’ button near the top & you will be able to generate statements for other years.

Progress Reports, Advice & Support
Progress reports
At UCD we know how important it is for sponsoring organisations to receive updates about their students. We aim to issue progress reports automatically at the end of each semester. However, we are happy to adapt this to the individual needs of a sponsor (e.g. by using sponsor specific reports upon request). Sponsor specific report templates should be forwarded to our Sponsorship Manager.
Advice and Support
We can assist you with any enquiries you may have regarding entry requirements and submitting applications for your students. Please let us know and we will be more than happy to help.
