Céad Míle Fáilte!
Ireland is the ideal destination for students who want to study internationally. UCD invites North American students to spend time on campus; take a tour; meet our incredible community; and experience, first-hand, our warm Irish hospitality.
North American families may visit year-round, but we typically experience our highest number of North American visitors during academic breaks and holidays, such as spring break, Christmas break, and Thanksgiving breaks. If you are visiting during this time you should schedule a visit through the links below as soon as you have your travel plans.
If you would like to take a tour of campus with our UCD Global office, please use this link to officially register.
UCD Global also offers tours and meetings with our North American Ambassador group. Our North American Ambassador student organization is comprised of U.S. and Canadian undergraduate students, who currently study at UCD, and are happy to meet with visiting North American families. You can schedule time with a North American Ambassador by contacting us.
UCD is also happy to extend our Open Day invitation to North American families. Although this event is geared toward EU students, all students are welcome.

Practical Information
We recommend landing in Dublin early in the day on the day before your visit to campus so you don’t miss any your planned activities.

Whether you’re staying “in town” (Dublin city centre) or closer to campus, the Dublin Bus is a great way to get around. UCD’s campus can be accessed most directly by the 39a, 46a, 145, 155 and 175 buses. For more information on transport links to campus visit https://www.myucd.ie/visiting-ucd/transport-links/
The 39a bus runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The 11 and 142 buses stop on the Clonskeagh side of campus and serve areas including Ranelagh and Rathmines. Express buses serve UCD offering fast direct routes from suburban areas and the greater Dublin region.
Taxis are readily available in Dublin and can be ordered on the FreeNow or Uber app.
Please note, on campus parking is quite limited. We encourage visitors to utilise sustainable transportation options but if you must drive you can review information on parking here: https://www.ucd.ie/estates/ourservices/commuting/drivingandparking/
If you are traveling via train to Dublin Heuston Train Station, the Dublin Bus route 145 from Heuston station serves UCD.
Please note, if you are a Google Maps user, the transit directions are a great resource for navigating Dublin public transport options.
There are incredible food options across campus, whether you're looking for a full meal or a coffee. Options on campus are detailed here: https://www.ucd.ie/estates/ourservices/eat/
Around Dublin there are more incredible food options than could be contained in one site. You should be able to find something in town or near campus for any craving - to help in your search here are some suggestions from a current student, Bridie!
