Una Europa Seed Funding Call 2025 webinar

Una Europa invites researchers from all disciplines to a webinar to launch the Una Europa Seed Funding Call 2025.

This year's Seed Funding Call includes an option to involve international university partners beyond the existing alliance partners.

Up to 10 projects will be funded, with a maximum budget of €40,000 per project.

Virtual Exchange for Sustainability 

Are you a BSc, MSc, PhD or postdoctoral student? The UnaVEx virtual exchange is a free, five-week programme focused on sustainability. You will attend inspiring plenary talks on different perspectives on sustainability. You will also be introduced to an international small group of peers and a moderator. In groups, you will discuss and develop a collaborative, sustainability-themed action task. (Applications closed.)

Una Europa Epilepsy Data Challenge

Are you ready to make a difference in the world of healthcare? In this challenge, participants will harness the power of Machine Learning to detect seizure events from data collected from over 200 epilepsy patients using a wearable device.

The challenge kicks off in February with an online workshop, followed by release of the dataset to participants. Regular online Q&A sessions will be organised. In April, participants and Una Europa experts will come together in a joint workshop to present their findings and discuss their results with experts. (Applications closed.)

Una Europa Summer School for doctoral researchers | Sustainable Food Systems

The Una Europa Summer School on Sustainable Food Systems, hosted by Helsingin yliopisto/Helsingfors universitet in Finland, will engage PhD researchers in an open and stimulating environment to tackle challenges connected to the sustainability transition of global and national food systems. Participants will have the chance to dive deep into sustainable food systems and protein transition, connect with researchers and academics from across Una Europa, and develop more transdisciplinary knowledge. A number of UCD students will be awarded a travel bursary to support their attendance.

Una Europa Student Project Incubator

Step into the shoes of a researcher for six weeks!

Do you ever wonder how researchers define their topics of research and get from idea to a research plan? Do you ever look around your university, society or community and wonder what is behind some of the challenges you're seeing?

The Una Europa Student Project Incubator will run as a research simulator. Put your research skills and knowledge from your studies into practice in international, interdisciplinary, student-led teams.

Apply as a team by 9 March. You can form a team by attending an online networking session in late February or early March.

Una Europa Summer School for doctoral researchers | Artificial Intelligence & Creativity

Apply now for the Una Europa Summer School, hosted by Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. Explore the relationship between AI and creativity, connect with doctoral researchers and academics from across Una Europa, and develop transdisciplinary knowledge through challenge-based learning, workshops, and meetings with experts and artists. 

The programme includes an online pre-meeting and introduction course on 5 and 10 June, followed by a week of courses, workshops and meetings in Paris in July.

UCD students who are selected for the programme will be supported to attend with a travel bursary.

Una Europa Summer School for doctoral researchers | Bridging disciplines for One Health solutions

Apply now for the Una Europa Summer School, hosted by Freie Universität Berlin.  

Participants will explore the concept of One Health (the intersection of human, animal, and environmental health) at a deeper level and broaden their understanding of this framework from interdisciplinary viewpoints in a structured series of courses and workshops.

UCD students who are selected for the programme will be supported to attend with a travel bursary.
