Una Europa @ UCD is delighted to announce that Ílon Wright, a 3rd Year Global Studies student at UCD, has been elected Co-Chair of the Una Europa Student Board.
Una Europa is an alliance of 11 partner universities, including UCD, who share the common goal of developing a truly European University of the Future. The Una Europa Student Board comprises two student representatives from each member university of the Una Europa alliance. The Student Board’s role is to act as a unified voice for all students across the alliance and to promote Una Europa initiatives and opportunities to their local student communities. The Board works together to tackle problems students might be facing and act as a link between students and Una Europa staff.
"I’m honoured to have been elected as Co-Chair to the Una Europa Student Board,” said Ílon. “I’m committed to amplifying the student voice and creating structural representation throughout our university systems. I’m very excited for the great potential that this role has for students across the alliance, and it is my intention to do the best I can with this opportunity.”
For the past year, Ílon has been representing UCD students on the Una Europa Student Board. They are also the Student Union Class Representative for their Global Studies course. Ílon’s studies and scholarship focus on the histories and geographies of structural inequalities caused by colonial systems.
UCD’s other representative on the Una Europa Student Board is Miranda Bauer. Miranda is the current President of the UCD Students' Union. As chief spokesperson for the Union, Miranda's core responsibilities are to lead the political direction of the Union, advocate on behalf of students, create strong relations with faculty and staff, and ensure that the work of the Union is impactful at both local and national levels.
“I'm happy to represent UCD on the Una Europa Student Board,” said Miranda. “I strive for a future where every UCD student can equally access the resources of Una Europa and work towards building a university that prioritizes the empowerment of our student community.”
