UCD welcomes Universitas 21 Provost to campus

U21 Provost Jenny Dixon with UCD president Orla Feely

On Monday 14th October, UCD welcomed Professor Jenny Dixon, Provost of the Universitas 21 network, to Belfield. Universitas 21 (U21) is a global network of 30 world-leading research-intensive universities, fostering collaboration and internationalisation to benefit staff, students and institutions. UCD, Ireland’s only Universitas 21 member, joined the network in 2006. 

During her visit, Professor Dixon met with Professor Orla Feely, President; Professor Colin Scott, Registrar and Deputy President; Professor Dolores O’Riordan,Vice-President for Global Engagement; Professor Kate Robson Brown, Vice-President for Research, Innovation, Professor Aoife Ahern, Vice-President for Equality, Diversity, & Inclusion; Professor Tasman Crowe, Vice-President for Sustainability; Professor Barbara Dooley, UCD’s U21 Senior Leader; and UCD colleagues engaged in U21 activities.

Professor Dixon addressed UCD colleagues, providing updates on U21’s progress and recent developments. Topics discussed included:

  • Appreciation for UCD’s broad engagement with the U21 network;
  • UCD’s leadership in areas such as Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, and Sustainability, which align with U21’s upcoming strategy;
  • Plans to expand the Universitas 21 network while maintaining effective ways of working and a ‘close knit’ feel. 

The Provost visit underscored UCD’s active role within the Universitas 21 network and reaffirmed UCD’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with U21 member universities.
