UCD and Embassy of India hold virtual Gandhi anniversary event

To mark the finale of the celebrations for the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, University College Dublin in partnership with the Embassy of India, Ireland hosted a virtual webinar on Friday 2 October 2020. Guest speakers included John O'Dowd, UCD Sutherland School of Law and Professor Sudhir Krishnaswamy, National Law School of India University.
Douglas Proctor, UCD Global Director, welcomed attendees to the webinar and spoke about the “ongoing legacy of Mahatma Gandhi and his impact on the world.” HE Ambassador Sandeep Kumar, Ambassador of India to Ireland addressed attendees, which included UCD students, staff and other guests.
John O’Dowd, UCD Sutherland School of Law delivered a very interesting talk on “Gandhi in the Era of Black Lives Matter.” Professor Sudhir Krishnaswamy, spoke on the topic of “Gandhi's legacy and the future development of the Constitution of India: a good or a bad influence?”.
There was very positive feedback to the webinar from attendees.
