Una Europa Seed Fund - Call now Open 2022

On 1st June 2022, UCD joined Una Europa, one of Europe’s leading university alliances and a major driving force behind transforming education across the continent. As a new member, UCD joins ten Una Europa partner universities, all of which have strong established links with UCD. Collectively, the alliance now comprises over half a million students and almost 100,000 university staff among its network, which transcends geographical borders, working together towards a virtual “multi-campus”- a University of the Future.
2022 Una Europa Seed Fund
The Una Europa Seed Fund is now open for applications to academics from all 11 Una Europa universities.
The specific goal of the 2022 call for applications is to consolidate academic collaboration in each of the five Una Europa Focus Areas:
- Cultural Heritage
- Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
- European Studies
- One Health
- Sustainability
The aim of the call is to appoint one Una Europa Chair per Focus Area. Research teams consisting of senior academics in at least two partner universities and one Project Chair will be responsible for designing and delivering a defined project in one of the Focus Areas. The nominated Chair will carry out a fellowship of minimum 2 months in one of the Una Europa universities during the period 1 January 2023 to 31 July 2023.

- Applicants have the option of sending an expression of interest to the Self-Steering Committee of the Focus Area of their project in order to get informal feedback. The deadline to request feedback is the 1st of July 2022.
- Email your draft budget - using Una Europa’s budget template - for review to budgetapprovals@ucd.ie on/before 21 July 2022 at 17:00hrs (IST).
- Obtain an endorsement letter from your Head of School or College Principal, using the templates provided by Una Europa.
- Upload your letters of support, budget and other supporting documentation to the online application and submit the form no later than 29 July 2022 at 16:00 (IST).
Eligibility
Projects must be coordinated by a senior academic in one Una Europa university and must involve a chairholder who is a senior academic in a different Una Europa university than the coordinating institution at application stage. The definition of a ‘senior academic’ for the purposes of this call can be found in the call text.
