AHSC Lecture Series Nov/Dec 2019
UCD Health Affairs and IEHG will be hosting a lecture series in November and December. Guest speakers to include:
- PROFESSOR BILL WATSON - Professor of Cancer Biology in the UCD School of Medicine, University College Dublin, Head of Pathology and Director of the Biomedical Health and Life Science honours BSc programme. SPEAKER DATE: 21st November at SVUH
- PROFESSOR DAVID GALVIN - Consultant in Urological Oncology SVUH/MMUH, Chair of the National Prostate cancer Leads Network, Head of Research within the Irish Society of Urology, Senior Lecturer in University College Dublin, and Principal Investigator on the Irish Prostate Cancer Outcomes Research. SPEAKER DATE: 21st November at SVUH
- PROFESSOR WALTER KOLCH - Director of Systems Biology Ireland (SBI) at University College Dublin. He is internationally recognised for his cutting-edge research using systems approaches to understand signalling networks, and is ranked 3rd in the world in precision medicine, 8th in personalised medicine, and amongst the worlds top 50 in proteomics, systems biology, and signal Transduction (Google Scholar). - PROFESSOR HELEN HENEGHAN - Ms Helen Heneghan is a Consultant Bariatric Surgeon at St. Vincent's University Hospital, Dublin. She has co-authored 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has written 5 book chapters on the topics of bariatric and endocrine surgery. SPEAKER DATE: 3rd December at UCD
- PROFESSOR MANDAR JOG - Director of the National Parkinson Foundation Centre of Excellence in Parkinson Disease and Movement Disorders Program at London Health Sciences Centre and a Professor of Neurology at Western University, both in London, Ontario, Canada. He is also one of the Associate Directors of the Lawson Health Research Institute. SPEAKER DATE: 11th December at MMUH
- PROFESSOR OWEN SMITH - Professor of Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine at University College Dublin, Consultant Paediatric Haematologist at Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin, Dublin and is Chief Academic Lead to the Children's Hospital Group. SPEAKER DATE: 12th December at MMUH
