UCD Nursing/Midwifery Retirement & New Appointment
On behalf of nursing and midwifery colleagues throughout the Ireland East Hospital Group (IEHG), the Chief Director of Nursing & Midwifery, Paul Gallagher, would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank Professor Gerard Fealy who recently retired from his position as Dean and Head of the School of Nursing/Midwifery and Health Systems at UCD.
Gerard has made a significant contribution to nursing and midwifery throughout his career, both clinically and academically. In his role as Dean he elevated the profile of the school at UCD and has left an enviable legacy.
IEHG wish Gerard every happiness as he opens this new chapter in his life.
Gerard has been replaced by Professor Fiona Timmons. Fiona has joined the school from Trinity College Dublin and has extensive experience as an academic. Fiona also brings a significant skill-set based on her experience of leading both the undergraduate and postgraduate nursing and midwifery programmes at TCD.
In her role as a nurse academic, she has published more than 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has written/co-authored seven nursing textbooks. Fiona has presented widely internationally, including many keynote presentations and workshops. She is currently editor of the Journal of Nursing Management and acts as a reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals, sitting on the editorial board of many of these.
IEHG are looking forward to working with Fiona and we wish her every success in this important role at UCD.
