Active Living

Being physically active is so important for our health and wellbeing, with lots of benefits including a lower risk of chronic diseases such as coronary heart disease and type 2 diabetes, not to mention the benefits to your mental health.

Physical activity is for everyone, regardless of your fitness level. You can start incorporating more movement into your life through doing simple things such as taking the stairs instead of the lift, getting off the bus a few stops earlier and/or leaving the car at home one or two days a week and walking if possible.

There are plenty of small, simple changes that can be made to increase movement levels which will have a positive impact on your health.

There are great resources available to help you get started such as (opens in a new window)getirelandactive.ie - this is a free database and interactive map that will help you find activities that you like, wherever you are located and whatever level you are at.
