UCD signs HEA Higher Education Healthy Campus Charter
Monday 15 th May 2023 marked UCD’s formal adoption of the HEA Higher Education Healthy
Campus Framework and Charter with the signing of the Charter at the UCD University Club.
The Charter was signed on behalf of UCD by Professor Barbara Dooley, UCD Acting Deputy
President and Registrar, and by Dr Celine Murrin, Chair of the Healthy UCD Steering
Committee. Members of the Healthy UCD Steering Committee and UCD Student Mental
Health and Suicide Prevention project group were in attendance, while the HEA was
represented by its Healthy Campus Coordinator, Caroline Mahon. It was subsequently
signed by Molly Greenough, UCDSU president, on behalf of UCD Students’ Union.
The Healthy Campus Framework offers guidelines to third-level institutions to build on
existing wellbeing actions and healthy campus activities and assists with the integration of
health and wellbeing across the whole campus including teaching and learning, student
supports and services, staff development, policies. The Framework was developed in
partnership with the higher education institutions, the HSE and Healthy Ireland and can be
