UCD School of History fosters a vibrant research community of academic staff, postdoctoral research fellows and doctoral students.  We promote rigorous historical approaches within an environment which recognises the potential for cross-disciplinary study. We emphasise both collaborative research without losing sight of the value of cutting edge individual contributions to the field. We foster academic networks and knowledge transfer through our research forum, our academic centres and through our commitment to the formation of the next generation of scholars.

Dr. Frances Nolan conducts a ground-breaking interdisciplinary research project on women and property ownership in early modern Ireland, gathering data to interrogate the nature, development and impact of female property-ownership between 1541 and 1800.

Dr. Claas Kirchhelle and his team explore the past and present of typhoid. A killer of paupers, princes, and presidents, it was an invisible threat in Victorian England and remains dangerous in many areas of the world today.
