Conference Allowances

The purpose of the Conference Allowance is to allow employees to attend relevant conferences as part of their professional development and to assist in building sustainable networks in the interests of the University. Below you will find details of the Conference Allowance policy, who it applies to, the amount involved and how you can make a claim.

Conference Allowance Policy

The Conference Allowance policy outlines roles and procedures and provides details on how your allowance can be spent and how any unspent balance is handled.

Read the (opens in a new window)Conference Allowance Policy now.

This page contains a summary of a university policy but, in all cases, the Policy itself remains the ultimate source of information.

Am I entitled to a Conference Allowance?

The following are entitled to claim a Conference Allowance:

  • All faculty from Lecturer/Assistant Professor to Full Professor
  • All administrative staff of Grade A02 and above
  • Part-time or temporary employees at the levels outlined above are entitled to claim a conference allowance on a pro-rata basis

Funded staff are not entitled to claim Conference Allowance, but may be awarded an equivalent allowance from the relevant fund. Please refer to the (opens in a new window)Conference Allowance Policy and discuss with your Head of School/Unit.

Where can I see my balance?

Employees can review the balance remaining on their conference allowance and all transactions charged to their conference allowance for the current and previous allowance periods through the "My Staff Profile" on Infohub. To view this go to InfoHub >Human Resources > My Details > Conference Allowance.
