Auranta Shortlisted For 2019 Irish Times Innovation Award
Auranta, a biotech company, has been shortlisted for a 2019 Irish Times Innovation Award. The company, with offices at NovaUCD and Alexandra House, Dublin, develops and produces a range of innovative and sustainable animal feed products to boost gut health, immunity and performance in calves, poultry, and pigs.
The company founded in 2013 by Dr Pat Ward and John Cullen has been shortlisted in the New Frontiers category, which is sponsored by the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School.
The company currently supplies AuraCalf, AuraPoultry and AuraPig products, based on synergies between plant extracts and natural organic acids, in liquid and powder formats. The company is currently collaborating closely with a number of universities, including University College Dublin, and agricultural research institutions to develop and test the company’s products.
John Cullen, Co-founder and Managing Director, Auranta said, “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for an Irish Times Innovation Award. It is a recognition of the hard work and dedication of our team over the last number of years in building and developing a company, which we believe will shape the future of agriculture through our animal feed products.”
He added, “Auranta follows a science-based approach and we are continuing to develop animal gut health products for new markets and applications.”
Auranta, is among 15 finalists across five award categories, shortlisted from over 100 applications. This year’s finalists will now be offered presentation skills training before pitching their companies to a panel of judges later this month.
Buymie and TechWorks Marine have been shortlisted along with Auranta in the New Frontiers category.
The sponsors of the 2019 Irish Times Innovation Awards also include; Science Foundation Ireland, KPMG, Skillnet Ireland and Enterprise Ireland.
Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony to be held at the RDS, Dublin on 5 November.
