Go Eve Announces European CE Mark for Transformative EV Charging Technology
Irish/UK technology company Go Eve today announced that it has obtained European CE Mark certification for its innovative DockChain charging technology, a major step forward in transforming electric vehicle (EV) charging. This new technology enables rapid, scalable EV charging, addressing two critical challenges in EV adoption; infrastructure efficiency and charging speed.
Traditional fast chargers typically serve only one or two vehicles at a time, making them unsuitable for overnight charging use. Charger blocking, operational inefficiencies, low utilisation, and higher infrastructure costs are also incurred. DockChain disrupts this model by allowing multiple vehicles to connect to a single fast charger through a "daisy chain" of compact charging points. Each vehicle on a chain, charges one at a time, at full power.
Intelligent software orchestrates charging sessions based on customisable criteria such as:
- First-in, first-served
- Battery level prioritization
- Priority parking bays
- Energy pricing or tariff optimisation
A Solution Designed for Scalability and Efficiency
DockChain is ideal for fleet and site operators who need to integrate EV charging into existing parking setups. The modular design allows the system to scale as EV adoption grows, while the source fast charger can be located away from the parking area, saving space and reducing wear and tear. Software tells the driver, or operator, exactly when any EV on the system is scheduled to complete its charge.
The CE certified DockChain product offers power ratings between 150 and 400 Amps, enabling charging speeds of up to 320kW for compatible vehicles. Enhanced unit economics and streamlined installation processes position DockChain as a game-changer in fast-charging deployment. The team believes DockChain could eventually render traditional slow AC charging systems obsolete for many use cases.
Driving Efficiency and Economics in EV Charging
Hugh Sheehy, CEO, Go Eve, emphasised the many benefits of DockChain, "Scaling EV charging requires more than just hardware. It involves balancing infrastructure costs, grid capacity, energy tariffs, and operational needs. DockChain addresses all these considerations, providing a scalable and cost-effective solution that outperforms traditional systems in many scenarios. In many of those use cases DockChain could even render slow AC charging systems obsolete."
Hugh Sheehy, CEO and co-founder, Go Eve
He added, "We’ve already seen success with DockChain at customer sites across the UK and Ireland, including depots, car rental/ service locations, and office parks. The data from these installs gives us confidence in the broader applicability of our solution in other charging contexts. With CE certification on the new product, we’re ready to deliver DockChain at scale across Europe."
He concluded, “This certification milestone comes as Go Eve prepares for its next funding round in 2025, aimed at accelerating our mission to revolutionise EV charging infrastructure globally.”
A Growing Legacy of Innovation
Go Eve was founded in 2021 as a joint spin-out company of University College Dublin and Imperial College London to commercialise the patented DockChain technology. The firm, with offices at NovaUCD in Dublin, the UK, and in the US, has rapidly advanced EV charging solutions with support from the UK Department for Transport and €3.5 million (£3 million) in seed funding.
These supports have enabled the company to develop DockChain (hardware and software) to full production, work with EV charger manufacturers to guarantee compatibility when extending their equipment, and establish its first customer sites.
