Account of Drowning

Another sand boat manned by four men left Sea-Lodge Quay, north of Durrus, on a Sunday morning, one hundred and sixty years ago. When they reached just outside ‘Mannin Island’, one man stood up and staggered and fell out. For three days they searched for him but they failed to find him. After that, a seal was seen always over a certain spot near the island. As they knew he was minding something, they began searching again and found the lost man.
