The Seal Begs for Life

The old men certainly didn’t like you to meddle with the seal – although I shot two. I heard my grandfather tell a story about them certainly. He said that, like now, the seals were becoming very plentiful and going for all the fish and they went out with a gun in the boat, and this old seal come up and when he lifted the gun, this man, the seal lifted his paw and he say:

“Donal, Donal, don’t fire at me.”

It was in Irish but it meant that. They said that was true enough that time.
