Bhí beirt fhear ag iascaireacht insna Dúnaibh. Tháinig rón orthu agus chuir fear acu scian ann agus d’imigh an rón leis an scian ann. Tháinig siad isteach go dtí Na Dúnaibh ansin agus chuaigh siad ina bhaile. Nuair a bhí an fear a chur an scian sa rón ag dul a luí an oíche sin, tháinig fear go dtí an doras agus lig an fear é isteach. Dúirt an fear leis;
“Ba mhaith liom dá dtiocfá liom agus rud maith a dhéanamh domh.”
“Rachaidh mé leat cinnte,” ar seisean.
Thug sé leis é anonn go dtí tráigh mhór. Thug suas i gcúil charraig é. Bhuail sé an charraig le bata agus d’fhoscail sé doras. Shiúil an bheirt acu isteach. Bhí bean ina luí sa leaba agus scian ina brollach aici.
“Bain amach an scian sin, is tú a chur isteach é agus gheobhaidh mo bheansa biseach,” arsa an fear. Thug sé amach an scian agus fuair an bhean biseach.
Two men were fishing in Downies. A seal came up to them and one man put a knife into it and the seal went off with the knife still stuck in it. They came into Downies then and they went home. When the man who put the knife in the seal was going to sleep that night, a man came to the door and the man [the fisherman] let him in. The man said;
“I’d like you to come with me and do something good for me.”
“Certainly, I’ll go with you,” he said.
He took him over to a large beach. He took him up behind a rock. He hit the rock with a stick and opened a door. The two of them walked in. A woman was lying in the bed with a knife in her chest.
“Take out that knife, as you’re the person who put it in, and my wife will recover,” said the man. He took out the knife and the woman recovered.
