Bhí fear sa mbaile a bhí thíos lá sa gcladach thíos. Casadh rón óg leis istigh sa gcladach is é tirim istigh ar a gcladach aige. Rug sé air, agus thug sé abhaile é. Lag sé istigh ar urlár istigh é, agus is gearr go dtáinig duine eile isteach ón tsráid, agus dúirt sé go raibh rón ansin thíos a bhí ag scréachaíl agus ag fuagairt. Agus nuair a chuala an rón óg go raibh sé sin ag blaoch agus ag scréachaíl;
“Sin é Tadhg,” a deir sé, “atá ar mo lorg-sa.” Agus ligeadh amach é, agus cuireadh síos ag an gcladach é gan aon bhlas a dhéana’ air.
There was a man in the town who was down on the shore one day. He came across a young seal on the dry shore. He grabbed it and took it home with him. He put it on the floor inside and shortly after someone else came in from the street and said that there was a seal down there that was calling and shouting. And when the young seal heard that he was calling and shouting;
“That’s Tadhg,” he said, “who’s looking for me.” And he was let out then and put back on the shore unharmed.
