If Students Report That They Cannot See the Quiz |
Check that the quiz is set up to be visible to users. Steps:
|
If Students Experience Connectivity Issues During The Quiz, Will They Be Able To Re-enter It? |
Yes - you can advise students to navigate back to the quiz. If the student doesn't hit the button called “Submit Quiz”, then they will be able to re-enter the quiz when they reconnect. If you have enforced a time limit in the quiz, then they will need to make sure they submit the quiz before time runs out. |
Does the Clock Stop If a Student Leaves the Quiz Tab? |
No - the clock keeps ticking in a timed quiz. If a student exits a timed quiz, time will continue to run on the quiz timer. |
A Student Reports Being Unable to Submit a Quiz |
Advise the student to re-open the quiz and to try to submit their in-progress attempt. If a student has an un-submitted quiz attempt, instructors can submit an in-progress quiz on behalf of a student: (opens in a new window)A student has an unsubmitted quiz attempt awaiting assessment |
A student reports seeing “Not Authorized” or “Internal Error” |
If students are receiving a “Not Authorized” or “Internal Error” message, this can mean one of the following:
If a student has a genuine issue, faculty can decide to grant either extra time (by using Special Access) or an extra attempt by resetting the quiz attempt for a student. |
Using Special Access to give additional time to specific students |
Students who have technical difficulties during an exam can be granted 'Special Access' and given additional time to complete the quiz. Depending on the types of questions being asked in the Quiz, this may be a less stressful option for students, than resetting the entire quiz, particularly if the student has already answered written responses, difficult calculations. How to Reset an attempt for a student |
Faculty can grant an extra attempt by resetting the quiz attempt for a student. The first attempt is deleted when an attempt is reset. Steps to Reset a quiz attempt:

If the student does not commence the new attempt before the quiz end date, faculty can grant the student Special Access to allow them to commence the new attempt after the quiz End Date. |
Can I Extend The Time Limit Of The Quiz For All Students While Attempts Are In Progress? |
It is not recommended to change any Quiz settings while attempts are in progress. Students will be assigned the time limits and settings that are in place at the time when they commence their quiz attempt. A module coordinator could decide to grant special access - and an extended time limit - to all students.
