We are delighted to publish our very first Annual Report.

Coming out of the unprecedented worldwide pandemic, a transformed landscape of Irish higher education is slowly emerging. The UCD Centre for Japanese Studies (JaSt) was established in April 2020 to develop innovative ways of bringing students, academics, industry and policymakers together to ‘Rise to the Future’ (UCD Strategy, 2020-2024), building on a significant track record of research in the area.

In the middle of the current global geopolitical transformation, the Government Strategy, “Global Ireland: Delivering in the Asia Pacific region to 2025” (Jan 2020) emphasises Ireland’s need to prepare experts/leaders with advanced knowledge and experience from across Asia to deepen and expand international relations.
