The Irish in Britain: A Conversation with the Diaspora - Mary Hickman
Professor Mary Hickman is Director of the Institute for the Study of European Transformations at London Metropolitan University. She established the Irish Studies Centre at the University in the 1980s. Her research interests include: migrations and diasporas; national (re)formations; processes of integration/social cohesion; second generations. Current research includes: an ESRC project (Reference:RES-062-23-1066): ‘A comparative study of the representations of ‘suspect’ communities in multi-ethnic Britain and of their impact on Muslim and Irish communities’; and she is writing a book for Palgrave Macmillan on migration, cohesion and social change. She has been a Visiting Professor at: New York University, Columbia University, the New School for Social Research and Victoria University in Melbourne.
