Electrification of Ireland's Railways

Ireland lags behind its European counterparts in terms of electric railways, with a mere 52km of electrified tracks, the lowest in the EU. This stark contrast underscores the urgency for Ireland to catch up with contemporary transportation standards.

Electric trains produce significantly lower emissions than diesel- powered equivalents, contributing to cleaner air and reduced carbon footprint. In an era of heightened climate concerns, prioritizing greener transportation solutions is imperative for mitigating the adverse effects of climate change.

Integrating wind turbines with electric railways garners more favorable reception from communities compared to standalone wind turbines. Instead of isolating wind turbines as independent entities, people recognize them as vital elements within a comprehensive, interconnected system serving various functions. This shift in perception fosters increased acceptance and endorsement of wind energy initiatives, particularly when individuals experience firsthand the tangible advantages they bring.
