The UCD Sutherland School of Law and the Riga Graduate School of Law, Latvia are delighted to announce the first event in a collaboration exploring aspects of consumer protection law, competition policy and financial services law and practice in a changing world. This duo-colloquium will explore, in a lively and engaging manner, key contemporary issues in these fields and will be, for example, of interest to lawyers, academics, civil servants and relevant policy advisers. Topics include: reform of consumer law in the EU, Ireland and the UK; EU proposals on the supply of digital content; online platforms; competition law and policy post-Brexit; the protection of bank depositors; consumer insurance and natural disasters; new forms of consumer credit; and UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Contracts. Contributions will be made from distinguished speakers based in Ireland, the UK, Latvia, the Netherlands, Japan and Hong Kong; and the event will be introduced by His Excellency Gints Apals, Latvian Ambassador to Ireland.
