Abstract
In my seminar "Marine biogeochemistry: its interaction with Physical Oceanography", I will cover solar-powered photosynthesis as the basic marine food source, the mixing up of nutrients to "fuel" this vital process by upwelling, tidal currents, surface gravity wave mixing, breaking of internal waves, Langmuir circulation and their relation to atmospheric processes. I will emphasise the close linking of physical and biogeochemical processes in the Ocean/Atmosphere system, how these affect global CO2 and O2 balance and I will allude to Global Climate Change in the discussion.
