Abstract
Associated to any partially ordered (or quasi-ordered) set is an incidence algebra. This will be a finite-dimensional algebra when the set is finite and can be imbedded in a ring of matrices. We will give a brief survey on incidence algebras, looking in particular at their involutions, i.e. anti-automorphisms of period 2.
