Abstract
I will give a presentation of o-minimality, aimed at a general audience. O-minimality was originally a purely model-theoretic construction, linked to Grothendieck's notion of tame topology. It has since developed strong connections with real geometry and analysis, and even recently a small one with number theory (Schanuel's conjecture).
