Abstract:

After giving an elementary review of quantum knot invariants such as the Jones polynomial we will discuss how their coefficients stabilize in a certain sense. We will explain why this happens and how it gives rise to interesting examples of new q-series identities. Time permitting we will suggest new two variable analogues of such formulas coming from the HOMFLY polynomial.
