Applied mathematics and wind energy
Title: Applied mathematics and wind energy

Time: 3pm – 4pm
Location: Room E1.19, Science East
Analysis:
It might seem obvious to some but applied maths is important for designing functional and safe wind turbines. Many modern design systems are based on the methods developed by Prandtl and Glauert in the first part of the last century. Even nowadays, some straightforward pencil and paper – or Python – analysis at the outset can save a good deal of trouble after the turbine has been built. I’ll present one or two interesting examples.
