Christopher Shannon award recipient of The Physiological Society’s Research and Knowledge Exchange Award

Congratulations to Christopher Shannon, Postdoc Research Fellow at the UCD Conway Institute. Christopher is one of four winners of the Research and Knowledge Exchange Award, awarded by The Physiological Society. The awards are ‘designed to support members wishing to conduct pilot studies, develop a new technique or to finalise a project, as well as supporting activities to promote knowledge transfer and impact’.

Christopher said, "This award from the Physiological Society supports my work investigating how mitochondria coordinate nutrient storage in adipose tissue, with the goal of identifying new therapeutic avenues for the treatment of obesity-related disease. I’m delighted to receive the award, which bridges the gap with my prior postdoctoral studies in diabetes therapeutics, reinforces important collaborations between investigators at UCD and the USA, and will hopefully serve as a step towards future funding opportunities at a crucial phase in my scientific career."

We wish Christopher all the very best with his project and career endeavours.
