Published by the Irish College of General Practitioners this month, a UCD School of Medicine team has authored ‘Referrals for Diagnostic Imaging: A Practical Guide for General Practitioners’. Supported by the HSE, this Quick Reference Guide aims to help busy GPs and GP registrars make decisions around the need for imaging for patients presenting with common problems. Congratulations to the team who produced the Guide – Dr Niamh Murphy, Dr Geoff McCombe, Prof Jonathan McNulty, Dr Ronan Fawsitt, Prof Ronan Killeen and Prof Walter Cullen.
Prof Cullen said, “Since early 2021 all patients attending general practice have had access to a wide range of timely imaging studies, including MRI scans, regardless of their ability to pay. We hope this guide will support clinical decision making in practice and are grateful to the ICGP, HSE for their support with the project.”
