The UCD Diabetes Complications Research Centre (DCRC) Research Symposium was held on the 19th January 2024. The event highlighted the innovative, interdisciplinary, and collaborative research being carried within the centre.
The day’s agenda featured 11 short talks by DCRC researchers and 5 guest speakers. Mr Seán Duke (Dublin City University) spoke on the importance of being able to communicate your research to the general public. Dr Jing Lyu (UCD Charles Institute for Dermatology) talked about her research on “Injectable Stem Cell Hydrogels for Diabetic Wound Healing”. Assoc Prof Eoin O'Cearbhaill (UCD School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering) discussed “Emerging Medical Devices for the Treatment of Diabetes”. Prof Donal O’Shea (St Vincent’s University Hospital & UCD School of Medicine) spoke about the importance of “Understanding Obesity”. While Clinical Assoc Prof Andrew Malone (St Vincent’s University Hospital & UCD School of Medicine) spoke about his research on “Single Cell Analysis Strategies in Kidney Transplant Rejection”.
