Clinical Sites

The six intern networks in Ireland collaborate with the Irish Medical Schools Council (IMSC), the Medical Council (of Ireland) and the National Doctors Training and Planning (NDTP), HSE to ensure a coordinated approach in the provision of medical education and training in Ireland.

The UCD School of Medicine works in conjunction with the UCD intern network to ensure quality deliverance of training and development during internship. The internship rotates through our main teaching hospitals, the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and St Vincent’s University Hospital including our hospital/GP sites. Interns must complete three months’ general medicine and three months’ general surgery. The Medical Council (of Ireland) approves rotations in surgery (general), medicine (general), emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, psychiatry, anaesthesia, radiology, general practice and academic medicine.
