Bachelor of Music Degree (BMus)
Major information for students who wish to add an additional year upon completion of their undergraduate degree.
BMus Stage 4
This programme provides a broad and flexible learning experience, blending academic, practical, and performance-based learning. Core requirements include the New Ideas in Musicology module and then either a Dissertation or a Fourth-Year Recital. In addition, students will select three 10-credit modules from options such as Music and the Moving Image, BĂ©yonce and Taylor Swift, Music and the Western Empires, and Techniques of Composition. Finally, students will also engage in at least one performance module, such as UCD Philharmonic Choir or UCD Composition Ensemble.

Select three of the following 10 credit modules:

- MUS31490 Music and Sexuality

Application for Stage 4 BMus
The fourth-year Bachelor of Music (BMus) degree is an additional year of study available after completing your three-year BA programme. Students must have a GPA of at least 3.2 in their Stage 2-3 music modules to apply for this programme. This programme is only open to internal applicants.
How to make an application:
- Subject to availability of places, student apply directly to the School of Music.
- Applications will open from mid-April to mid-June 2025. Incomplete applications will not be considered - your application, and any relevant supporting documentation, must be submitted by the closing date.
- Students do not need to provide their UCD examination results, these can be accessed internally.
- The outcome of the transfer request will be communicated by the School of Music in July, with registration typically beginning in mid-August.
