Collegium Institute Annual Newman Lecture: Prof. Dermot Moran
Collegium Institute and the Penn Catholic Newman Community are pleased to welcome Prof. Dermot Moran to deliver this year’s Annual Newman Lecture. Prof. Moran is the inaugural holder of the Joseph Chair in Catholic Philosophy at Boston College. He previously served as Director of the UCD International Centre for Newman Studies and is currently Chair of the Advisory Board of the UCD Newman Centre for the Study of Religions.
Prof. Moran was previously Full Professor of Philosophy at University College Dublin, holding the National University of Ireland Statutory Chair of Philosophy (Metaphysics & Logic) since 1989 until retirement in 2018. He has been Visiting Professor at Yale University, Northwestern University, Rice University, and Connecticut College and holds the position of Honorary Professor at multiple universities. He was awarded the Royal Irish Academy Gold Medal in the Humanities in 2012 and an Honorary Doctoral Degree from the National and Kapodistrian University in Athens in 2015.
Prof. Moran’s lecture for Collegium Institute will be on Edith Stein and John Henry Newman on Christian education and the university.
