Father Francis Gavin is a native of Marino, Dublin and a priest of the Oratory of St. Philip Neri. He was ordained to the priesthood in 2014 at the Birmingham Oratory, also founded by St. John Henry Newman, where he lived and served until his return to Dublin in 2021 to join the Dublin Oratory-in-Formation on Harrington Street. He studied theology at the Mater Dei Institute, St. Patrick's College and the University of Nottingham, where he completed a dissertation titled 'The Ecclesial Vocation of the Theologian in the Thought of Newman and Ratzinger'.
Dr. Áine Mahon is Assistant Professor in the School of Education at UCD, a position she has held since September 2015. She researches and teaches in the Philosophy of Education and the Philosophy of Literature. Áine was awarded a Ph.D. from the University of Nottingham (2009). She is also the very proud holder of a Dioplóma sa Ghaeilge Fheidhmeach from University College Dublin (2019) and is currently studying for an M.A. sa Ghaeilge (Scríobh agus Cumarsáid). Áine is a founding member of Philosophy Ireland, a network of academics and teachers who have collaborated on the introduction of philosophy as a short course on the reformed Junior Cycle. With Dr Emma Farrell, and together with UCD colleagues, Dr Shane Bergin and Dr Lisa Foran (UCD School of Philosophy), Áine is co-founder of "The Belonging Project" (belonging.ie), a collaboration with Post Studios and the National College of Art and Design.
Dr. Andrew Meszaros completed his BA in Philosophy and Theology at Boston College (2007). He completed Masters degrees at the University of Oxford (2009) and the Catholic University of Louvain/KU Leuven (2010), where he later completed his doctorate (2014). He spent one year doing postdoctoral research at the University of Vienna (2015-16) before coming to Maynooth. He is currently working on two monographs. The first is on the so-called 'theology of history' debates that dominated Catholic theology from the 1930's up until the Second Vatican Council. The second is on the soteriological significance of dogma.
