Lunchtime Lecture: The Relativity of Experience (Science and Buddhism)
Buddhism and Science: The Relativity of Experience
This is the second lecture in the Buddhism and Science lunchtime lecture series co-organised by the UCD Newman Centre (as part of the ongoing Science and Religion project) and the Dublin Buddhist Centre. In this lecture, Vajrashura (Dublin Buddhist Centre) will explore the parallels between Einstein’s theory of Special and General Relativity and Buddhist ideas on how we create our world with our mind and our stories. Both systems of thought point beyond everyday ways of thinking and show how what we take as objective reality is nowhere near as objective as we think.
Buddhism and Science is a series of lunchtime lectures exploring the parallels and differences between these two fascinating approaches in the quest for truth. The lectures will be led by Vajrashura, a member of the Triratna Buddhist Order. He completed his undergraduate degree in Theoretical Physics and a Master's in High-Performance Computing at Trinity College Dublin.
