Buddhism and Science Lunchtime Lectures: Buddhism and Evolution
Buddhism and Science: Buddhism and the Theory of Evolution (Wed 3 April)
This is the third lecture in the Buddhism and Sciencelunchtime lecture series co-organised by the UCD Newman Centre and the Dublin Buddhist Centre. The scientific theory of evolution makes sense of so much of the living world around us, how life has come to be the way it is, and how life continues to adapt and evolve today. The theory of evolution is one of the central paradigms of modern science and modern life. Evolution is central in Buddhism too, Buddhism being a spiritual tradition in which the continued evolution of consciousness is of vital importance. In this lecture in the ‘Buddhism and Science’ series, Vajrashura (Dublin Buddhist Centre) will explore modern Buddhist thinking, which links up both of these processes of evolution into one overarching trend of development.
Date: Wednesday 3 April
Time: 1-2pm
Venue: UCD School of Law, L023 (ground floor) and Online
