Nominations open in two by-elections to Governing Authority
Nomination papers have been posted to UCD professorial staff and to UCD non-academic staff in connection with elections to fill two casual vacancies on the fourth Governing Authority.
The vacancies arise from the retirement of Professor Maurice Boland and Ms Mary Buckley. The Authority will hold office until 31 January 2014.
Lists of the elective bodies in the two staff panels are published on the Governing Authority webpage. Nominations will close on Wednesday, 17 February 2010 at 5.00 p.m.
Voting papers and other election documents will be posted to members of the elective bodies in the week commencing 22 February. Postal voting will close on 18 March at 5.00 p.m. The counting of votes will take place on 19 March.
The professorial staff elective body comprises the President, and Professors and Associate Professors appointed in the University to permanent appointments as on 1 January 2010, and Professors and Associate Professors appointed by the University as on 1 January 2010 on contracts of three or more years' duration:
The non-academic staff elective body comprises staff appointed by the university to permanent appointments as on 1 January 2010 in the non-academic activities and services of the University, and staff appointed by the university as on 1 January 2010 on contracts of three or more year' duration in the non-academic activities and services of the University.
In the event of a conflict regarding membership of an elective body, the decision of the Chairman of the Governing Authority shall be final.
