“Professor O’Connell brings valuable leadership experience to the UCD Geary Institute,” said Dr Hugh Brady, President of UCD. “His work in labour market research has a wide impact on national and European policy-making. He adds to the breadth of interdisciplinary research at the Geary Institute and will continue to extend the international reputation of the Institute, built up by Professor Colm Harmon.”

He received his doctorate from Indiana University, Bloomington and taught at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
