Three team trophies for UCD at Irish Swimming and Lifesaving Intervarsities
The Irish University Swimming & Water Polo Association (IUSWA) Intervarsities 2013 were hosted by University College Dublin in the 50 metre Olympic-specification swimming pool in the new UCD Student Centre.
The UCD swim team won all three major trophies: the best men’s team, the best women’s team, and the best overall team.
The UCD women’s relay team set a new Irish senior record for the 4x50m medley relay finishing in a time of 1.57.04. They also set a new standard for the 4x50m freestyle relay with a finishing time of 1.45.27.

“The event was a great success, and it is great for UCD to have won all three major trophies again,” said Earl McCarthy, Head Coach of the UCD Swim Team.
“I would particularly like to thank the students from the UCD Sports and Exercise Management Class [Stage 2] for their amazing organisation of the event.”
The students from the UCD School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Population Science organised the event as part of their course module in Event Management.
