Mark English claims Bronze in European Athletics Championships
On Friday evening at the European Athletics Championships in Zurich, UCD 2nd year medical student and Ad Astra Elite Athlete, Mark English became Ireland's first ever winner of a medal in the 800 metres at a major championships, when he ran a seasons best to win the Bronze in a high quality field.
Running a perfect tactical race, he moved up from the back of the field to finish strongly and claim his piece of Irish athletics history.
Speaking immediately after the result, UCD Elite Athlete Director, Professor Colin Boreham said "We are so proud of Mark's achievement in Zurich, and send our hearty congratulations to him and his family. At the age of 21, he has the ability to go the the very top in world athletics. All of us in the Ad Astra Elite Athlete academy are delighted to have played a part in his marvellous success"
