UCD improves position in QS World University Rankings by Subject
UCD Veterinary Science and Development Studies ranked in top 50
QS World University Rankings by Subject, published today, place UCD in the top 200 for 29 subjects (up from 22 in 2014) and in the top 100 for 9 of these subjects (up from 7 in 2014).
The subject rankings place UCD first in Ireland in 12 subjects (up from 7 in 2014). These include four new subject categories: Veterinary Science, Architecture/Built Environment, Business & Management Studies, and Development Studies. Others are Law, Engineering – Chemical, Engineering – Civil & Structural, Agriculture & Forestry, Earth & Marine Sciences, Materials Science, Statistics & Operational Research and (jointly) Mathematics.
Overall, UCD increased its ranking in 11 subjects and maintained its band position in 14. The biggest upward movers are: Mathematics, Materials Science, Earth & Marine Sciences, Pharmacy & Pharmacology, and Philosophy, all climbing over fifty places.
The QS Rankings group institutions into bands of 50, with 800 out of 3,500 universities evaluated ranking within the top 200 across the 36 subjects. UCD does not offer three of these subjects (Art & Design, Dentistry, Communication & Media Studies). Over 126,000 academic and employer survey responses were included. Over 100 million citations attributions were analysed and 13,000 programmes verified.
